Joshua Goslowsky

Hello My Name Is...

Mr. Goslowsky

Good day from CSAS! My name is Josh Goslowsky, and I teach 6th grade English Language Arts. I'm a huge Harry Potter nerd, and my classroom reflects that! But don't hold that against me; I am more than what I read. After working in Arkansas for a short time, I moved to Murfreesboro, TN, where I taught 7th grade English for four years. Moving to Chattanooga this summer has been the perfect opportunity to be closer to family and to explore an adventurous city. I am an active student myself, learning yoga, the Spanish language, and how to bake.

Some of my summer reading included:
- Everlost by Neil Shusterman
- The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau
- A Wind in the Door by Madeliene L'Engle
- Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordian
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie

One of my main goals as your student's ELA teacher is to be an available resource. If I can help answer any questions, please let me know. The parent and teacher are partners in a student's education. Thank you for all that you do to ensure your child is ready and prepared for school each day.
This class is a Flipped Classroom. The traditional lecture learning will be done in the homework. Students will take notes and bring them to class to practice with guidance from the teacher.

The homework will be posted online every Wednesday. Students will have one week to complete this homework. I will check homework on Wednesday during class. The first homework assignment will be posted 8/22/18.

Please be aware that we will use the platform called Playposit for homework. (Student log in will be given in class)
Remind will be used for parent communication. (Text @goslow1 to 81010 to join our class)
Edulastic will be used for testing in our classroom. (Student log in will be given in class)
